  2. This is Jocelyn's mom, I don't know a lot about penguins. I have seen them swim and they can swim super fast! They look like bullets when they zoom through the water. One of the most interesting things I have learned about penguins though is that there are some in HOT places as well as the cold places! Penguins also live in South Africa! I was so surprised when I learned that! They live on the Southern coasts of Africa and they make the funniest sound! They sound like a donkey when they talk to each other. They like to eat fish and squid. http://explore.org/#!/live-cams/player/live-penguin-cam-2 This is a live camera in Long Beach California that shows Magellanic penguins. Some of them were stranded outside their natural habitat.

  3. Hello Ms Races Class!!! This is Jessica, Drakes Mom. I don't know very much about penguins, but I do know that Drake and I love to watch Happy Feet, a movie all about penguins. While watching this movie for the first time, I learned that the daddy penguins carry the eggs with their feet and also the penguins eat fish and squid, along with any other sea creatures they can catch while swimming through the ocean. I have only seen a real penguin at the zoo, although I would love to see them in their natural habitat. While reading about penguins tonight, I have also learned that there are 18 species of penguin in the world. While some species are widespread and thriving, 13 of them have declining populations, and five of them are considered endangered and facing possible extinction if strong protection and conservation measures are not taken. Also, Penguins’ eyes work better underwater than they do in the air, giving them superior eyesight to spot prey while hunting, even in cloudy, dark or murky water. Learning about penguins this week in class will be so neat! I hope that all of you enjoy it!
