The Legend of the Persimmon:
This morning we learned all about the seed of a persimmon. Did you know the seed has helped people determine the outcome for the winter to come. We learned the seed can have 3 different shapes inside.
Fork- The fork represents a mild winter
Knife-The knife means the winter will be full of ice!
Spoon- The spoon represents shoveling out lots of SNOW!
....What did we find this year in our persimmon?.....
You guessed it, we found that this year our persimmon showed a SPOON! We are hoping for lots of snow. We also took the time to see what the Farmer's Almanac said about winter here in Arkansas. Guess what, it completely agreed with our persimmon. So here we go...getting ready for a cold winter to come! BRRRR....

Hey boys and girls!!! We cut one open about a week ago and also found a spoon!!! I'm looking forward to a snow day! Keep up the good work! From Mrs. Williams(KIndergarten).
ReplyDeleteWell....it looks like we are all hopefully going to get some SNOW this year!!! We have decided to track the weather throughout fall and winter. We plan to see if the persimmon, Farmer's Almanac, and other tales are all true with the snow fall! We hope to have at least one snow day if not two snow days! Several of us brought persimmons to class today. We are going to cut one or two open to see if they agree! Let the snow begin to fall!
