The Great Kapok Tree

This week we are looking into why author's write. We have discovered three main reasons: to entertain, to inform, or to persuade. We just finished reading The Great Kapok Tree and discovered that Lynn Cherry wrote to inform us all about what is happening in the rain forest. Did you know that the rain forest is being slowly cut down? So here are looking at ways we can help save the rain forest and our great WORLD!

Pick up litter
Replant trees once they have been cut down
Recycle paper, bottles, and cans
keep our yards cleaned up
Conserve our water
tell people all about the problems in the rain forest

What can you help us do?

  3. this is Ms. Race's mom and dad were loggers. We are logging contracters for Bibler Bros. in Russellville AR. We harvest pine timber. A interesting fact is that most places we cut the timber it is replanted back or we just cut the mature trees and leave the young trees. We also leave big trees that drop seeds for natural replanting and growth! So now you know how loggers keep Arkansas so beautiful! We now in Arkansas have more Pine trees than we use to in 1970! So you guys keep working on keeping our state so beautiful!

  4. Hi! I am Mrs Wooten, Noah's mom, and I just want all of you to know how fortunate you all are to have Miss Race for your teacher. She makes learning fun and exciting, and you all will be smarter and better people because of it:-) Have an awesome day!
